{"id":684,"date":"2018-03-12T10:26:17","date_gmt":"2018-03-12T08:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.myscience.fi\/en\/?p=684"},"modified":"2018-03-12T10:26:17","modified_gmt":"2018-03-12T08:26:17","slug":"warmly-welcome-to-the-international-lumat-symposium-2018-and-to-the-international-start-gala-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myscience.fi\/en\/news\/2018\/03\/12\/warmly-welcome-to-the-international-lumat-symposium-2018-and-to-the-international-start-gala-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Warmly welcome to the International LUMAT Symposium 2018 and to the International StarT Gala 2018\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have the honour and pleasure to invite you to Tampere, Finland, from <strong>5th to 6th June\u00a02018<\/strong>, to the International LUMAT Symposium 2018.<\/p>\n<p>We welcome <strong>math, science and technology teachers<\/strong> from all educational levels, <strong>prospective teachers<\/strong>, <strong>teacher educators<\/strong> and <strong>researchers<\/strong> in math, science and technology education to attend this symposium to <strong>share ideas<\/strong> on math, science and technology education and to <strong>discuss new developments<\/strong> in the field.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium is based on discussion sessions, and the coffee point will provide participants with free coffee all day.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Finnish National and International <strong>StarT Gala<\/strong> on Tue 5th June is part of the programme of the symposium.<\/p>\n<p>The StarT Gala is a memorable award ceremony and a celebration of the success of both Finnish national and international StarT activities in the current academic year. The teams of children and youngsters will be awarded for their projects, and learning communities will be awarded for their good practices in the implementation of interdisciplinary phenomenon-based learning.<\/p>\n<p>Experience the unique experiences in a festive StarT Gala and enjoy the learning by children and youth with them. Pick up the best ideas for your own teaching from the video presentations of the awarded projects.<\/p>\n<p>The programme of the gala will include at least the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ceremony for the <em>International LUMA StarT Awards<\/em> for three teams of children or youngsters and for the <em>International LUMA StarT Education Awards<\/em> for three representatives of good practices by learning\u00a0communities, from all over the world (Director General, Mr. <strong>Olli-Pekka Heinonen<\/strong>, Finnish National Agency for Education)<\/li>\n<li>Ceremony for awarding the country in the world that has been most active in carrying out StarT<\/li>\n<li>Ceremony for awarding other invited teams of children or youngsters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Gala is partly in Finnish, partly in Swedish, and partly in English. English speakers will be able to follow the programme.
