The recent special issues of the\u00a0<em><span class=\"caps\">LUMAT<\/span>: Research and Practice in Science, Technology and Mathematics Education<\/em> journal present proceedings of the 12th European Conference on Research in Chemistry Education held in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Finland in July 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The 12th European Conference on Research in Chemistry Education (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jyu.fi\/kemia\/en\/research\/ecrice2014\"><span class=\"caps\">ECRICE<\/span>\u00a02014<\/a>) held in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Finland, explored the theme\u00a0<em>\u201cnew trends in research-based chemistry education\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Proceedings from the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">ECRICE<\/span>\u00a0conference have recently been published in two issues of the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">LUMAT<\/span>: Research and Practice in Science, Technology and Mathematics Education \u2013journal. The proceedings include both research papers and general articles from studies presented at the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">ECRICE<\/span>\u00a0conference.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"caps\">STEM<\/span>\u00a0education, learning and teaching is rapidly changing around the world. Currently\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">STEM<\/span>\u00a0teachers in many countries are experimenting with new, student-centered, inquiry-based approaches, bringing technology and virtual learning tools into the classroom and boldly introducing students to non-formal learning environments to engage and motivate them. The\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">ECRICE<\/span>\u00a0conference was a platform for sharing research and practical knowledge about such experiments.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights include results on\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">STEM<\/span>\u00a0curriculum reforms and their implementation in teaching, out-of-school learning environments and the impact of inquiry-based approaches on\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">STEM<\/span>\u00a0learning.<\/p>\n<p>First volume of ECRICE2014 conference proceedings in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lumat.fi\/index.php\/lumat-old\/issue\/view\/6\"><span class=\"caps\">LUMAT<\/span>\u00a0special issue 3\/2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Second volume of ECRICE2014 conference proceedings in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lumat.fi\/index.php\/lumat-old\/issue\/view\/7\"><span class=\"caps\">LUMAT<\/span>\u00a0special issue 4\/2015<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"divider\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lumat.fi\/\"><span class=\"caps\">LUMAT<\/span>: Research and Practice in Math, Science and Technology Education<\/a>\u00a0publishes peer-reviewed scientific articles, perspective articles and general articles in three languages, English, Finnish and Swedish.
