LUMA Centre Finland is a science education network of 11 Finnish universities

A map of Finland with all 13 regional LUMA centres marked. Next to the map is an illustration of a girl holding a thin piece of ice in her hand, reflecting the light of the setting sun, creating patterns on the face. In another illustration, a man is building a tower of sticks on the beach with two children.

Our goal is to inspire and encourage children and young people to study and engage with STEM subjects (mathematics, environmental studies, natural sciences, and technology) through science education activities, such as free-of-charge study visits to universities, new pedagogical innovations for teaching, and after-school activities.

We also support teachers’ lifelong learning, from early childhood education to higher education, across Finland, and strengthen the research-based development of teaching. LUMA Centre Finland has a national task from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Finland, to ensure enough STEM experts and a high level of expertise throughout the country.
